INTRODUCTION

 

    IN THIS LAB YOU WILL BE TAKING A LOOK AT HOW METALS CAN SWITCH AND THE CHEMICAL REACTION THAT GOES ALONG WITH THE SWITCH.

 

IN THIS LAB YOU WILL BE USING THE FOLLOWING CHEMICALS

 

§         COPPER CHLORIDE CuCl2

§         WATER H20

§         ALUMINUM Al

 

     A CLASS DISCUSSION WILL BE UTILIZED TO DISCUSS CHEMICAL AMOUNTS AND THE LAB PROCEDURES THAT WILL BE USED TO CONDUCT THIS LAB.

 

 

PROCEDURES

 

ACQUIRE THE CORRECT AMOUNTS OF CHEMICALS AS PER TEACHER INSTRUCTIONS.

 

IN THIS LAB YOU WILL NEED TO USE SPECIAL TECHNIQUES TO TRAP GAS THAT IS PRODUCED IN THE RACTION.

 

PREPARE A HYPOTHESIS THAT IS BASED ON WHAT YOU BELIEVE THE EVENTS OF THE LAB WILL BE.

 

MAKE YOUR OBSERVATIONS OF THE CHEMICALS BEFORE YOU REACT THEM.  BE SURE AND RECORD IF THE CHEMICALS ARE SUBSTANCES, MIXTURES, ETC.  BE SURE AND RECORD ALL THE PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF THE CHEMICALS THAT YOU CAN.

 

CONDUCT THE EXPERIMENT PER TEACHERS INSTRUCTIONS.  BE SURE TO RECORD YOUR OBSERVATIONS OF THE EVENTS OF THE LAB.

 

THE CHEMICALS IN THIS LAB WILL REQUIRE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS IN ORDER TO USE THEM.

VOCABULARY? BE SURE AND USE THAT VOCABULARY IN THE ANALYSIS.

 

Ø      DID YOUR GROUP MAKE ANY MISTAKES THAT MAY HAVE CHANGED THE RESULTS?
