What is Science Unit Activities


The following page outlines all labs and activities that students will do as part of the "What is Science" unit.
This is a very important unit as it establishes lab expectations that will be followed for the entire school year.
This is the first unit of the year so a large amount of time is devoted to developing teacher expectations of lab work and learning the proper use of classroom technologies like quiz star.

 

Unit Grading

Classwork: Points that are awarded to students for participating in class lectures and working hard during labs. Grade is based on cooperation and efforts to write and record information during labs. Often times these are activities that are not collected by the teacher because they are valuable resources for the school year, like vocabulary activities. These points role over in to one cumulative quarter grade.

Other Graded Activities:The approximate amount of points that can be rewarded for the activity are listed next to it.

Extension Activities:Special assignments develop to expose students to greater ideas in scientific thinking.
